Practicing Members
Requirements
New applicants to this category may be:
- Canadian Certified MLT moving from a regulated Province
- Canadian Certified MLT moving from a non-regulated Province
- New Graduate- CSMLS Certified
- Internationally educated MLT (IEMLT)- CSMLS Certified and working as a MLT in another Canadian jurisdiction
Practicing Members must :
- work at least 1,200 Practice Hours as set out in Bylaws, within the five-year period immediately preceding the date of application for the year in which the license is sought;
- complete 30 hours (2.0 CPE credits) continuing professional education in accordance with the requirements of the Continuing Professional Education Program, within the five-year period immediately preceding the date of application for the year in which the license is sought;
- new graduates have 5 years to obtain the required Practice Hours and Continuing Professional Education credits;
- hold practicing membership with the Society or a regulatory body recognized by the Society while working in medical laboratory technology activities approved by the Society to contribute to eligibility for a license; and
- complete the prescribed forms and submit them together with the annual licensing fee and other fees prescribed by Council
